Grillée, Tamar Hirschfeld

Venue: Outside the walls at musée des Beaux-Arts de Marseille, Palais Longchamp.

Born in Jerusalem into a family of archaeologists, Tamar Hirschfeld is in residence at Cirva from 2020 to 2022. At the Musée des Beaux-Arts, the artist proposes a marvelous stroll conceived as a journey of initiation during which we are confronted with the enigma of origins and destiny:
Where do we come from? Where are we going? The artist installs in the course copies of ancient vestiges, completed with humor by accessories of the contemporary daily life, mumbling in various languages, to become fanciful figures. These sculptures are confronted with the religious, mythological or historical episodes of the paintings on the walls; a coexistence of disparate narratives creating a mysterious hubbub.
Where are we? We are in a world in crisis: the playlets composed by the artist evoke the absurdity of the world we live in. But while we lose our bearings in the midst of the flames, the complexity of the world is delivered to us as limpid.

A solo exhibition by Tamar Hirschfeld, by the Museums of Marseille, in partnership with the Cirva, as part of the Festival Parallèle.
