Basking by the Mediterranean at Hôtel Les Roches

In this radically modernist haven on the French Riviera, entirely open to the Mediterranean, the sea and sky provide all the scenery required.

Tucked below the Aiguebelle coastline in Le Lavandou, the building, designed by Marseille architect Jean-Baptiste Pietri in raw concrete, stone and terrazzo, embraces the landscape through 360 degrees like the prow of a ship. Reading and contemplation, a few lengths in the pool and a Sisley treatment to the gentle lapping of the water: here, one simply surrenders to the view, the light and the breeze.

The sensory journey continues at L’Oursin, adorned with murals by artist Maki Ohkojima. Chef Antoine Gras of the Michelin-starred La Table de l’Ours and his team interpret their surroundings through flavour, colour and rhythm: the bounty of the sea and local flora, the salt spray on mistral days… and always the Mediterranean, stretching towards the horizon.
