Originally, the bastide of Château de Servières in Marseille's 15th arrondissement was the first place in France to host a contemporary art gallery in a social centre in 1988. Since 2007, it has been housed in a municipal building in the city centre. The association is continuing and developing its project to support artists through production aid, reconfigured spaces and a programme of exhibitions of emerging and established artists from the local, national and international scene, complemented by a mediation component for audiences far removed from the cultural offer. The association initiates and co-produces 'hors-les-murs' projects: Marcel Longchamp, Arts Ephémères and Ouvertures d'Ateliers d'Artistes.

Since 2014, it has produced PAREIDOLIE, the international contemporary drawing fair, which brings drawing to our city like never before. Under its impetus, the Saison du Dessin (Drawing Season) boosts the influence of this medium across the Mediterranean arc through around thirty partners from August to December.

La Relève 7 : Notre part belle

In these times, we need to look at it, hold it up, celebrate it. It's what keeps us together, what brings together our capacity to care for one another, our individual and collective mobilisation. It's the one that assumes our vulnerabilities and our need for others, whether they come from afar or are our neighbours; whether they resemble us or surprise us. The Festival Parallèle 15 offers a beautiful cartography of stories and points of view, so let's make full use of it and welcome the urgent need to tell and create. Let's maintain the open, ephemeral communities that festivals represent, let's continue to invest in these necessary spaces of exploration and openness to what we don't yet know. They sometimes upset us, but they certainly enrich us. Let's be the defenders of free artistic creation, watch over it and defend our right to access it.

The Festival Parallèle is celebrating its nineteenth anniversary. From an end-of-studies project in 2006, it has grown into an important event in the depths of winter for many people: adventurers of all ages and informed spectators, artists and cultural professionals, students and beneficiaries of mutual aid and solidarity associations. For me and for the people who have worked to organise each edition, it's been a journey of great emotions, joys and trials, encounters and shared experiences.

Été culturel : Rouvrir le Monde - La Restitution

The DRAC of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur is organising the Rouvrir le Monde artists' residency programme to link culture and leisure for all children, young people and adults during the summer, and to offer local residents participative artistic and cultural initiatives led by artists in their area.

Since 2020, the Château de Servières has been coordinating the artists' residencies, building on its partnerships with social and cultural centres, its expertise in cultural mediation and its reputation among local artists. In 2024, 18 artists, including 3 duos, took part in the scheme. They spent 2 to 3 weeks in residence with the beneficiary organisations. The transmission and creation sessions took place between July and October in social centres, but also in establishments for the elderly, adult reception centres and other associations in the region, enabling the scheme to reach a wider audience.

The Rouvrir le Monde - La Restitution exhibition is an opportunity to showcase the work carried out over the summer in the light of the artists' practice, and it also gives the beneficiaries the chance to discover a local cultural venue and take ownership of an artistic proposal.
