Annual photography festival the Rencontres d’Arles founded in 1970 plays an active role in photography and educational workshops all year round. Starting out as a series of encounters between photography enthusiasts, it became over the years a major cultural event.

All summer long in Arles, more than twenty venues - including some open especially for the occasion – host 40 photography exhibitions.
