Musée National Pablo Picasso - La Guerre et la Paix

The Pablo Picasso national Museum is located in the former priory of Vallauris, in the space of the Romanesque chapel. It is located in the same enclosure as the Magnelli museum and the Ceramics municipal Museum. While residing in Vallauris from 1948 to 1955, Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) chose the chapel to install a monumental mural composition, War and Peace. After Guernica (1937) and Massacre in Korea (1951), Picasso executed this political fresco in 1952, this work remains highly topical: the artist denounces the horrors of war with passion and inventiveness and bears witness to his commitment to peace.
